Unfortunately, it all unraveled in about one second and I felt like I"d wasted my time throughout the entire first 99% of the movie. Really disappointing plot turns and denouement. I"m not sure how a serious actor read this treatment and thought it was a good idea, but there you have it.

Adam Sandler is usually funny but everything was disturbing about it-the language, the storyline, etc. It was an awful story full of one bad choice after another with nothing to redeem it or make me recommend it at the end. Sandlers performance made us root for a scumbag of a character and even left us distraught when he was killed. he finally won, he finally beat it all. he didnt have to worry anymore and something finally went right for him. my first time seeing it in theaters was on opening day and everyone gasped. i myself was leaning out of my seat bc i was so sucked into the film and as soon as Howard got shot i jolted backwards in disbelief. he may have been a scumbag but he did have a family and i could tell that no matter how disinterested they seemed in trying to connect with him after all the years of his reckless behavior they all still loved him deeply. i guess u can say that at least he died at the height of his life up until then. the visual metaphor that Howard himself was an uncut gem, rough around the edges with some beautiful glimmers of hope that sometimes shined through, was brilliant. the ending also shocked me because throughout the film i never really got the idea that Phill really hated Howard whereas it was just business, however the ending proved that he didnt just hate Howard he hated Arnold for getting him involved with the entire situation it seemed and thats why he killed them both. i guess if i were Howard i wouldve told Phill id pay him personally 100k cash in hand as soon as the money got back to the shop before i let him out of the room lmfao.
